50 cents a scoop!

Did you know that you can get delicious Farr's hard ice cream at Ridley's Market in Midway for just 50 cents a scoop?
Our friendly Ridley's Market offers ice cream in a sugar cone, a waffle cone, or a cup with one, two, or three scoop options. And they are hefty scoops!

Our family visits the ice cream counter at Ridley's often. So of course we all have our favorites. Here are Heath's Favorite Five:

5. Chocolate Peanut Butter
4. Cookie Dough
3. Playdough
2. Brownies on the Moon
1. Pistachio

Pistachio is always Heath's favorite flavor! ALWAYS.

Let's hear it for the neighbors

Do you have great neighbors? Maybe it's time you let them know how much you appreciate them. Here are Heath's Favorite Five ways to acknowledge them and show your gratitude for the good things they do everyday.

1. The first thing Heath said was to host a BBQ.
Of course. A little neighborhood get together with good food is a great way to connect with neighbors. A nice outdoor potluck party in the warm months will make memories. A warm and cozy food get together in the cooler months is also a fantastic way to unite neighbors and enjoy the longer dark evenings.

2. Take care of things for them when they are out of town.
If they need someone to feed or care for a pet, get their mail or newspaper, water some flower pots, or take the garbage to the curb in their absence, then you might volunteer to help. If there are other simple chores that need to be taken care of in the case of a short absence, having someone close to home taking care of those things and keeping on eye on the house gives peace of mind as well as builds friendships. Be sure to have each other's phone numbers. A little check in text or call can be very helpful if you see something not particularly right at their house.

3. Be a considerate neighbor.
If you know your neighbors are having an extended family function in their backyard, please don't think it's a good time to mow your lawn. If you know they are recuperating from a surgery, shovel the snow from their sidewalk. If your dog likes to howl at the moon at 4:00 am, take care of it. If your kids leave their front yard strewn with their bikes, scooters, and pogo sticks, clean it up.

4. Take them something.
It's always delightful to get a little snack on a paper plate that you didn't make. There are all kinds of holidays that make it easy to purchase or make a little gift to share with your neighbors. It's nice to know someone thought of you. Delivering a small pot of flowers in the spring, a slice or two of watermelon in the summer, a basket of veggies from your fall garden, or a holiday basket in the winter goes a long ways to show your appreciation and friendship.

5. Stay in touch, listen, and be happy.
With the weather warming up this month and next, you and your neighbors will most likely be spending a little more time outside. That gives you the chance to see each other more than the winter months might have allowed. Be neighborly and exchange greetings when you both happen to be out. Over the fence chats about the weather, family members, upcoming events, or even yard concerns are great ways to stay in touch with your neighbors. And don't forget the smile. A study completed in part by a sociologist at Harvard tells us "When one person in the network became happy, the chances that a friend, sibling, spouse or next-door neighbor would become happy increased between 8 percent and 34 percent, the researchers found."

For most people neighbors are an integral part of life. Hopefully your neighbors are great. If not, step out and be good to them so they have good neighbors. Try to express your appreciation and let them know how much you enjoy them. The month of February gives us 1 hour and 9 minutes more minutes of daylight. Let's enjoy it.

Heath's Favorite Five Local Restaurants

461 South Main Street in Heber City
This is Heath's favorite authentic Mexican food restaurant. He suggests the carne asada burrito. Mmmm.

380 East Main Street in Midway
Heath LOVES the salsa bar at Tarahumara.
Especially mixing the avocado salsa with the fire hot salsa.

550 West 100 South in Heber City
All Heath can think about here is the LAVA SAUCE.
He suggests trying the Lava Chicken Sandwich if you like delicious, smoky heat and also the Wasatch Philly Cheese Sandwich.

1020 South Main Street in Heber City
Heath recently had a sausage, egg, and cheese croissant breakfast sandwich and was thoroughly impressed. He thought it was an incredible sandwich that was filling and delicious.
He also enjoys the turkey, bacon, avocado sandwich with Parmesan chips and an eclair!

95 South Main Street in Heber City
The sweet bread that you can't get anywhere else keeps Heath coming back to Kolaches.
His favorite is the sausage, egg, cheese, and jalepeno kolcache. It is divine.

Here's to eating and shopping local in our wonderful valley.
We hope to run into you at one of Heath's favorite spots to grab a bite to eat.

Heath's Favorite Five Spices

September is here and that usually means a little more of a schedule and that in turn usually means more cooking and family meal time.

Just so you can get to know your favorite real estate professional a little better, here is HEATH'S FAVORITE FIVE COOKING SPICES. Heath is a great cook and has a gift for knowing what spices are just perfect for each dish.

GARLIC POWDER AND ONION POWDER
Heath puts them on EVERYTHING!
He uses them in almost everything he cooks from soups to eggs for breakfast to meat dishes.

SAGE AND ROSEMARY
They are the perfect turkey and chicken accessory.
The house and food smells like Christmas and Thanksgiving when used together. They create a holiday smell that is delicious and they are perfect for poultry.

CHILI POWDER AND CUMIN
WINTER!
Heath loves using chili powder and cumin in the winter.  They are used in chilies and warm foods.
By the way, Heath makes killer mouthwatering chili.  And it's never the same!

BLACKENING SPICE
So good for grilling and searing steaks.
When blackening spice is applied as a dry rub, it soaks into the meat a bit before you grill it so the flavor is more apparent. It has a little sugar in it so when you put the meat on the grill, it crusts over the steak and keeps the juice inside.
It can also be added as seasoning in the crock pot for an extra kick.

SEA SALT
Everyone likes salt.  It's essential for human health. It's fitting for everything you cook and it enhances the flavor of your food.

So as the fall arrives and you get in the kitchen cooking again, try one or two of Heath's favorite spices or figure out your own new favorites.

Heath's Favorite Five Camping Meals

August is here and hopefully all you camping fans out there are trying to get in a few more camping trips before the kids head back to school.
Just so you can get to know your favorite real estate professional a little better, here is HEATH'S FAVORITE FIVE CAMPING MEALS.
1. Eggs and Potatoes
If you prepare hashbrowns before you go camping, this is an easy, delicious and filling breakfast.  Use a big skillet to brown hashbrowns, add eggs, a few onions, and green peppers.  Heath tops it with salsa.
2. Brook Trout
A freshly caught brook trout is a perfect camping meal.  Bread it with flour, cook it in a skillet over the fire and then eat it like corn on the cob - right off the bone.
3. Hamburgers
Pre-prep your burger meat with all the seasonings you like to enjoy this All American favorite while camping.
4. Tin Foil Dinners
This is one of Heath's favorite because if you have all the ingredients prepared in small bowls, everyone can make their own just exactly how they want it.  Everyone in the whole family can make their own perfect dinner.
5. Red Licorice
Licorice is one of Heath's camping necessities and he swears licorice could almost be a meal substitute!

Hoping you can head to the hills or the lake and enjoy making memories with family and friends.
