Last week the FFA and 4H youth in the valley had the opportunity to sell their turkeys in the Wasatch County Jr Livestock Turkey Show. There were almost 100 tom turkeys sold and they averaged around $350 each. The buyers from the community were incredible. The 29 1/2 pound Grand Champion Tom was raised and sold by Kelsey Crane and purchased by T&G Finish for $620. Thank you T&G Finish as well as all the other buyers for a great event.

Most of the turkey buyers are local businesses that show their support to the youth by purchasing a locally raised turkey. T&G Finish is a Heber Valley based business owned by Nathan Treu and Josh Goode. They specialize in finish carpentry, rock, tile, and remodeling.  Take a look at some of their work by searching for them on Pinterest or visiting their website by clicking here. Here's a sneak peek.

If you are in need of any finish work or are considering a remodel, give these fine fellas a call.

Who is thinking about feasting on a delicious turkey?

Most of you may not know that many of the local FFA and 4H youth in our valley have been busy since July raising turkeys. There will be a Wasatch County Jr Livestock Turkey Sale on Tuesday November 22nd at 6:00 pm at the Wasatch County Event Center. Each youth is able to auction off two turkeys and would love your support. They are homegrown turkeys and will be processed on Monday so you'll get a fresh local bird just in time for your Thanksgiving feast. Come out and support our amazing Wasatch County youth.

Do you have an 11,12 or 13 year old girl to shop for this Christmas?
A little stressed out about what to get her?

This TWEEN age is when girls start to become unique in their own style, but still want to match and fit in with their friends. And it's rough finding gifts for them.
But we've got your problem solved!

The inside scoop is they want their room, their own space, to be special to them. Something fun and something that fits them. Your shopping list should include:

WALL TAPESTRIES

Wall tapestries are a big deal for tweens right now because it's an easy and inexpensive way to dramatically change the look of a room with just one wall. No paint, no mess, little hassle.  Just hang up a large fabric design that suits her style. Find something that fits her and she'll be more than happy to open that gift.

PICTURES OF FRIENDS AND FAMILY
(MOSTLY FRIENDS)
Friends become a very important aspect in the lives of tweens. They want a few reminders of the fun times they have had with them. They also want to bask in their own uniqueness. If you surprise your tween with an envelope of pictures for Christmas, make sure they include her as well; not just her friends and family. It will build her self esteem to see herself enjoying life with her loved ones. Consider a collage frame or some other way to help her display photos as a gift as well.

CHRISTMAS/TWINKLE LIGHTS

There is something magical about lights strung up even when it's not Christmas time. They give off an enchanted feeling that makes us all feel a little bit younger, carefree and like a kid again. Since tweens are in between teenagers and children, letting them embrace their inner child is good for them. There are many options from super simple to ultra complex for putting up twinkle lights for your daughter.

PILLOWS

Pillows are an easy and inexpensive way to add some color, personality, and also some fluff to her room. She wants a comfy space that is hers to relax in and enjoy. A few decorative bed pillows are a great gift option. Find or sew up some trendy ones to help her fit in with her peers, but also a few crazy and unique ones to let her accept her own individuality.

If you look at this picture which my inside source says is near perfection, with a few more pillows, it combines all four of the items that will be a hit on your shopping list. Wall tapestry, pictures of friends and family, twinkle lights, and pillows. Many of the above photos incorporate more than one item which tells us that your shopping list is right on cue.

Solving the dilemma of what to get the sweet little tween in your life for Christmas is hopefully taken care of and our ideas have you rolling with the shopping cart!
